The work of Oldham’s Labour council features front and centre in a new online publication from the Local Government Association (LGA).
LGA Labour have produced a resource website for local council’s looking to respond to the climate emergency with practical actions, with two examples from Oldham highlighted as best practice.
Generation Oldham, our community energy programme, is included in an extended piece highlighting the innovative ways in which we’re working in communities to build a more sustainable energy sector in the borough. Under the stewardship of Cllr Abdul Jabbar, the cabinet member responsible for our green agenda, the council are also developing an “Oldham Code” – setting new expectations on house builders to ensure new homes are as environmentally friendly as possible. The code is flagged up by the LGA here: https://www.lgalabourclimateemergency.com/best-practices/Oldham-Council-%E2%80%93-the-Oldham-Code
