Cllr Shoab Akhtar
Cabinet Member for Employment and Enterprise
Cllr Shoab Akhtar has responsibility for employment, business support, Get Oldham Working and the VCSE sector.
He lives in Coppice with his family and has lived in Oldham since childhood. First elected in 2000, he was Mayor of Oldham in 2008/09 and Deputy Leader of the council from 2011 – 2014 with the responsibility for Oldham town centre.
He is a governor at Oldham Sixth Form College and Werneth Primary School, chairs the Enterprise Trust and works in the affordable housing industry.
