Cllr Mohon Ali has served the community for 7 years, as the Councillor for Chadderton North. He is also the portfolio holder/cabinet member for Education & Skills at Oldham Council.

Cllr Ali always puts residents first and works hard to make the community a better place. He has spent his time listening to residents, improving the area and being a strong bold voice for the community.

Cllr Ali is passionate about improving Oldham children’s future ambitions and along with Education, also has the responsibility of upskilling the town’s residents. As his day job, he works for the Civil Service as an Audit Manager.

Despite the difficult backdrop during his time as a Councillor, he has tried to identify issues and tackle them head on.

• He has lobbied and successfully obtained Chadderton’s fair share of road repairs from Oldham Council Budget.
• He has worked with community groups to transform alleyways into growing hubs and organised several community clean ups in the area.
• He is working closely with local partners and residents to tackle community safety issues in Chadderton
• He has supported local community groups in the ward and carried out casework, promptly with good outcomes for vast numbers of residents.
• He has supported the opening of the Brian Clarke Academy, an enhanced secondary educational offer in Oldham.
• He works closely with school leaders to drive standards in education, with GCSE results now improving and many schools in Oldham judged to be outstanding by OFSTED.
• He is leading on the opening of the new state funded sixth form college in partnership with Eton College.
