New figures from the ONS reveal that real wages (excluding bonuses) are falling at their fastest rate in a decade. New analysis published by Oldham Labour reveals that the average worker in Oldham Borough has suffered a reduction of £608.07 in the last 12 months.

Publishing the new analysis, Labour’s Cllr Amanda Chadderton, leader of Oldham Council, said “The Tory cost of living crisis is getting worse and whilst Oldham residents struggle the Torie lurch from scandal to scandal without any long term plans to help local families.”

”Labour does have a plan to stop the situation escalating and get the economy back under control. The Tory government needs to get a grip and start to get things under control because every day they delay causes more problems for Oldham families.”

Labour’s plan to tackle the cost of living crisis is to:

1.Stabilise the foundations of our economy by providing emergency support for business

2. Provide security for the winter and beyond by acting immediately on insulation and nuclear and renewable energy with Labour’s Green Energy Sprint

3. Put in place a longer-term approach to economic growth and security
