Councillor Amanda Chadderton and representatives of Oldham based charity Life for a Life, Eddie Hardaker, Viv Hardaker and Harry Marsh presented a donation of £500  to the Mayor’s Appeal Fund at the Mayor’s Ball on Friday 10th March.

Philip Kersh, Operations Director at Life for a Life, said “We’ve supported the Mayor of Oldham’s Appeal Fund for a few years but this year was especially fitting for us as two of Cllr Garry’s chosen charities perfectly align themselves with our goals as an organisation.”

“For over a decade we’ve supported Broughton House Veteran Care Village and like ourselves Oldham Bereavement Support try to help people dealing with the emotional challenge that losing a loved one brings.”

“I’m really pleased Cllr Chadderton could join us at the Mayor’s Ball to present our £500 donation to the Mayor’s Appeal Fund this year and we know these charities will use it to make a huge difference to the lives of Oldhamers.

Cllr Amanda Chadderton added, “Life for a Life do amazing work in Oldham, having planted over 4000 memorial trees in 7 memorial forests across Oldham over the last 20 years is an amazing achievement.”

“I know through my interactions with Life for a Life, and particularly Eddie and Viv, just how much this organisation cares about the work they do and supporting people come to terms with loss.”

“Not only have they planted thousands of trees, but they’ve recently facilitated the donation of a defibrillator at Alexandra Park, they’re fantastic representatives for Oldham and I couldn’t be prouder to have been asked to present their donation to the Mayor at the Mayor’s Ball with them last week.”
