Oldham Labour Working for residents across Oldham, Failsworth and Saddleworth
Kyle Phythian – Community Activist
My name is Kyle Phythian, and I am a community activist in Chadderton South. I have experience, energy and a will to deliver that sees me bring the best representation I can to the ward.
I’m proud to be a community activist for Chadderton South, a community I’ve come to know well through eight years of working here as the local MP’s office manager.
Whether through housing, public services, business, education, or regeneration, I’ve always believed in action that delivers real change for local people.
Previously elected as a councillor for Hollinwood, and having served as Deputy Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration, I led on improving housing conditions, championing tenants’ rights, and pushing for community-focused investment.
I’m active and visible in the community; regularly organising litter picks, tackling fly tipping, and working closely with residents to keep our streets clean and safe.
As someone from a working-class background, I know how vital it is to give every family a fair shot and a decent, safe place to live — and I bring that drive into everything I do.
Chadderton South is a community I’ve supported for years through my work for the MP and indirectly at the Council, but now I’m ready to help build a direct, active presence as your local community activist.
I’m out regularly – listening, acting, and standing up for local people. I want to bring real, practical, and workable solutions that deliver for people in Chadderton South.
With me, I bring energy, experience, and a strong campaigning focus to the role. I am committed to improving housing standards, tackling inequality, and delivering practical outcomes that improve day-to-day life.
I work to rebuild trust in local politics by being visible, accessible, and always ready to take the fight to those spreading division and misinformation. As one of the younger voices in local government, I bring a fresh perspective grounded in Labour values and a determination to create a fairer, safer, and more united Oldham.
